Prioritise Diasporan Voices, Adesina Urges African Govts The president of the African Development Bank Group, Akinwumi Adesina, has called on African governments to prioritise the voices of Africans in diaspora given the value that flows from them to the continent. Adesina, who had been hammering on the potentials of the African diaspora and urging them to return home, said this via his Twitter handle on Saturday. The former Nigerian minister said, "Africans in diaspora are Africa’s largest financiers. Remittances from the diaspora to Africa grew from $37 billion in 2010 to $96 billion in 2021. Total Official Development Assistance to Africa in 2021 was $35 billion or 36% of remittances from diaspora. Prioritize their voice!" Jubilation as Sanwo-Olu slashes tuition for new State varsities Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been praised for slashing the tuition for pioneer students of the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) Ijanikin/Epe, and Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) Ikorodu, by 65 percent. Management of the two varsities had proposed tuition of N195,000 for their pioneer students before Sanwo-Olu slashed it to N68,000. A statement by the Governor's Special Adviser on Education, Tokunbo Wahab, said the Sanwo-Olu administration will continue to give necessary support to the two universities and work towards making them one of the best in the country. Ekiti First Lady Puts Smiles on Faces of 160 Widows ....gives out cash, food items The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji has donated cash and distributed food items to 160 women across 16 local Governments of Ekiti State. According to a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the First Lady on Media, Raheem Akingbolu, 10 widows were randomly selected from each of the 16 statutory Local Governments of the state. Carrying out the donations in Ado Ekiti, Dr. Oyebanji said the gesture was out of love and feelings for the less privileged,  in order to put smiles on their faces. According to Dr Oyebanji, many of the widows are not opportuned to eat three meals per day which accounted for malnutrition. Hence, the need to render assistance to them.  She therefore appealed to them to ensure proper upbringing of their children so that their labour in life will not be futile.
